MAJOR, Anna Piercy - 1929 - Putnam

Martinsville, Ind March 19 -- Mrs. Anna Piercy Major, 88 years old died this afternoon at the Whiting Sanitarium after a long illness of bronchial pneumonia.?? Mrs. (sic) Major was born in Brandenburg, Ky and

when a young woman came with her parents to Cloverdale, Ind?? where she was married to Joseph W. Piercy, Jan 12, 1862. To this union were born five children: Prof. W. Piercy, head of the journalism department at Indiana University is the only survivor.

In 1862 Mr. and Mrs. Piercy came to Martinsville, Mr. Percy was clerk of Morgan County when he died July 6, 1872.

On November 4 1875 Mrs. Piercy was married to Noah J. Major who died in 1911.

She was a member of the Christian Church, Eastern Star and W.C.TU.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock.?? Burial will be at Cloverdale   --- kbz
